Ask anyone in my home town, or anyone who knows me across the state really, and they'll tell you that I am a whiz when it comes to computers and Apple products or anything to do with digital life. This is a statement that makes me cringe, and I almost want to run screaming from them for fear of what they expect of me. My standard defensive mechanism is to cheekily quip, 'people think I know lots of stuff, but really I just know how to google!' And that, folks, is the crux of how we got here, to TikTech Solutions. I have been in the troubleshooting space for many, many years. More out of necessity than actual planning to be in the space. Living in remote locations, there wasn't always someone around to help you out. Personality characteristics (inherited from both sides of the family tree, I am sure) that help in this space, include pigheadedness, stubbornness and a resilience that one needs to get results. Limited official training, and instead, actual, hands-on working through a myriad of tech challenges (with support on the phone) over the last two decades has been my 'schooling' in this area. A keen amateur snapper from a young age, the introduction of digital cameras excited me no end, especially with two young children and living in the spectacular East Kimberley, it meant I could snap away at will and my biggest issue would be the time (and discipline) needed to delete the bad shots!! The love of technology and how it can connect people and benefit our lives has been part of the journey, the advent of mainstream use of social media has seen my skillset branch out further to help people connect, whether that's personally, socially or in their small business. I can help them negotiate how to get the best out of their social media and online presences, access information and services through video conferencing technologies and just generally, at least like their technology, rather than loathe it as a necessary evil of modern life. So, I think, that's pretty much how we got here, me being me, getting excited about the potential for how we can connect through digital mediums, getting the best out of our technology rather than the frustrations sometimes associated with it! So welcome, welcome to my new venture! Welcome to my journey! I am looking forward to continuing to help you and your business connect. |
